First I started out by really gaining a true understanding of the difference between how I was living and how I had to live in order to become a positive thinker. I realized that I had the terrible habit of looking at the negatives in many situations. This realization made my transition easier then I had expected. You see if you want to learn hot to think positive it really boils down to a matter of choice.
You begin to believe in yourself and you take control of how you react to different events in your life. All of our feelings, beliefs and knowledge are based on our internal thoughts, both conscious and subconscious. We are in control, whether we know it or not. Aim high and do your best, when you have your mind focused on things you want you tend to be more positive.
When you are learning how to think positive you have to change the way you are currently living. I don’t mean drastic life altering changes like moving to a new town or changing jobs. What I am talking about is you have to have a reason to think positively. Setting goals is a major step in your journey towards a life full of positive thinking. When you have something to work towards, something that excites you, your whole attitude will be improved. You must learn to focus on the positive aspects of your goals in life. Having something to focus on that excites you will have you generating positive thoughts leaving no room in your mind for any amount of negativity.
A powerful practice in learning how to think positive is to constantly be using the power of affirmations. This one major change in my life made an incredible difference in the way I lived my life on a daily basis.
Affirmations are simply short positive, present tense statements that you continually repeat to yourself. An example of an affirmation would be repeating a statement such as “today is a terrific day” or “every thing turns out positive for me.” Just making these simple statements to yourself can have you feeling better about your day and optimistic about the outcomes of situations throughout your day. The more you fill your head with positive affirmations the less opportunity for negative thoughts to invade your mind. In learning how to think positive you can also get into the habit of asking yourself “what am I thinking right now?’ and if the thought is in any way a negative thought you can change it right away. The more you practice this the more it will become a habit and pretty soon you will be thinking positive all the time.
When you learn how to think positive you will notice that people are more drawn to you. You have heard the saying “like attracts like” well that is exactly how it goes when it comes to positive thinking. You will draw positive people and positive events into your life. Everything gets better your mood will be cheerful and upbeat, you will automatically expect the best of all situations. Learning how to think positive can and will change your entire life. Wouldn’t you love to feel on top of the world all the time? Positive thinking can do this for you. Now I know your thinking you can’t always be positive, which is true, but you can always try for a positive spin even on something negative.
Say you wake up and you have the flu! Nothing positive about that. But when you learn how to think positive you will know how to put a positive spin even on a negative situation. Someone can ask you how you feel and you would say quite miserably “I have the flu!” (that’s a negative) but because you know how to think positive you will end that statement by saying “but I think I am at the worst of it” (a very positive thought). Get in the habit of ending every negative with a positive thought. This can be done in every situation you just have to get into the habit of recognizing a negative thought or statement and look for a way of topping that off with a positive thought or action. The more you incorporate all these ideas into your life the more positive your life is going to be. So do all you can do to learn how to think positive and you will be doing so much for your personal happiness and for the happiness of those around you. Positive thinking turns to positive living!
